Birthday
Kenadee celebrated her 5th birthday last month. She is very quick to tell everyone that she is five now. She wanted a brown kitty cat cake, which made it easy for mom because it didn't involve fondant. Kenadee had so much fun playing with her friends and eating cake and ice cream. We let the girls pick a restaurant for lunch and she insisted on McDonalds (she knows Jared and I both hate that place). She would say "Mom, you are going to have to eat McDonalds on my birthday." Well we went and of course they were cleaning the play area, which is really the main motivation for picking that restaurant. I was shocked that it actually gets cleaned! The girls would not even eat their chicken nuggets and I cannot blame them as they are absolutely revulting. Now maybe they will not ask for McDonalds.
Pumpkins
No fall is complete without a trip to the Pumpkin patch. The Pumpkin patch here is great because they have a hay ride, smores, cider, a haystack, and clydesdales you can feed. We spent quite a bit of time selecting our pumpkins from the field. Kenadee and Kinsey had to walk all over to find their perfect pumpkins and then we walked around again searching for a big pumpkin for Kate. It was so nice to spend time together as a family as it has been a few very busy weeks between Jared's work schedule, his church responsibilities, and my activities. After the pumpkin patch we took a drive through the mountains looking at the fall leaves. This is truly one of our favorite times of the year.
Antelope Hunt
We took the whole family out for Jared's first antelope hunt. We had everyone sitting right at first light (well keeping a 3 and 5 year old sitting was a bit of a challenge) but once it got light we had antelope running all around us. There was never a dull moment; the antelope were constantly moving. Kenadee kept telling Jared to get his gun ready and shoot one when they were 600 yards away. She was very excited and liked looking through the spotting scope when they were far away. He finally had an antelope come in to about 250 yards and gave a broadside shot. He figured he needed to kill something just for the girls to have a fun experience. Kinsey wasn't too fond of getting close but Kenadee was having a blast. She helped him while he gutted it and she even helped drag it for a while. She can't stop talking about it and she and Kinsey are already arguing whose room it is going in. Kate slept through most of it. The morning was kind of cold so she was bundled up inside of Katrina's jacket. This was about the easiest hunt we have ever been on especially with kids (we were back in town by 10:30 in the morning. Jared didn't kill a monster but it was a blast.
What a fun past month! Your cakes are really cute too! That's great you can do so many great things with your family. And I am not surprised that Kenadee loved the whole hunting experience. Very fun!
ReplyDeleteWow! You guys have been busy! :) That's great that Kenadee got into the hunt--I bet Jared was so proud. :) Your cakes look delicious--and so creative. I love them. And--I just want to pick little Kate up. What a cutie! It's crazy to think she's growing up so fast.
